Brief of the Project

This project is to contribute for fostering climate-resilient local food systems and empowering women in the mountain district of Achham. The project site is five wards in Sanfebagar Municipality (Ward Numbers 2, 3, 9, 10, and 14) and 4 wards in Chaurpati (Ward Numbers 4, 5, 6, 7) rural municipalities of the Achham district of Sudurpaschim, directly benefitting 2500 marginalized HHs. It also aims to strengthen the capacities of CBOs, and CSOs, so that they can represent marginalized households in exercising their rights in the areas of nutrition and climate change. 

Overall Objectives:

Contribution to fostering climate-resilient local food systems and empowering women in the mountain district of Achham. 

Expected Outcome:

2,500 predominantly women-headed marginalized farmer households in two communities in Achham district have improved their nutritional situation and are empowered to exercise their rights in the areas of nutrition and climate change.

Output:

  1.  2500 targeted households practice a nutrition-sensitive and climate resilient agriculture.
  2. The capacities of 27 CBOs have been strengthened so that they are able to represent marginalized households in exercising their rights in the areas of nutrition and climate change.
  3. Local authorities are sensitized to localized plans on climate resilient agriculture and food security.
  4. The capacities of the three local partners in the areas of climate-resilient agriculture and strengthening civil society structures and good governance have increased.
